Baby Unit

Teachers go through sensitive periods also and when I had my children so many years ago I was compelled to create a unit on babies. As a new mother I was given so many magazines from the doctor's office and through the mail that it was a cry for a new unit to be made. You can image how much children love this unit. All of these things are on the shelf at once after giving lessons on them one at a time.

Object basket with labels. If a child cannot read I read it and hand the card to them to place in the appropriate place.

Baby Toys Cards and Labels. A perfect way to use magazine pictures.

Children with reading and drawing skills can make a subject web with this work.

Picture cards with phrases. Telling a story with a picture is so fun for kids to match up.

A small photo album is used to display Thing Babies Need

Inside magazine pictures and labels slip in the photo slots.

A web can be created using this booklet
I made three books using bigger photos dividing them in topics like A Baby is Born, Moms and Dads Love Their Baby, and A New Baby at Home. I put the pictures in order to make a story form that can be read and looked at by students.

These three sets of cards come from http://www.montessoriservices.com/card-materials/human-body

Children are enthralled by these cards.

My kids love to count by ten and I have watched myself move through these decades.

Hope this unit sparks an interest in your making this unit from baby magazines!

Really fun! All children are fascinated by babies. Me too. Thanks for sharing at Mom's Library!
